(Columbine)

Native spring wildflower with bright red and yellow nodding blooms with elongated upward facing spurs. Its bloom time matches up perfectly with the return migration of hummingbirds and offers a valuable source of nectar. Its pollen and nectar are attractive to bumble bees and other native bees, and it, is the larval host plant for at least two butterfly and moth species. Foliage is airy, attractive and biternate and easily fills in amongst other perennials and shrubs. Adaptable to a wide range of conditions, it will happily re-seed itself and is easily naturalized.
